This was by far the snowiest knitting gathering ever. How much snow did we get? Who knows?! For sure it was a lot! (The kids didn't have school, but we still knit!) Elizabeth gets the award for traveling the farthest on foot. Her intentions were always pure, though I tried to corrupt her with the offer of a ride, which became a hollow offer once I realized my neighbor's car was stuck behind my driveway and I was prevented from moving my car. So we each trekked over to the Reed Ranch on foot, and it was pretty much unanimous upon arrival that I should never again wear eye makeup in a snow storm, and Elizabeth has a twin in a Jan Brett book. (See photo above.) Carol drove, which she regretted after it took her a full hour to get to Cathy's house, and she decided that cross-country skis would have been a better idea. (Seriously.) Kathleen and Dave (who had a snow day from work) made the long journey across the street. (It is a diagonal, afterall.) Cathy was her usual amazing hostess self and was patient with all of the very wet snow clothes we brought in. The Reed kids did a great job of shoveling the walk. (No small task.) As for knitting . . . Kathleen did her first binding off and she now has two scarves off needles! Carol showed her how to add fringe. Carol worked on her fingerless lace gloves (see separate post) and Elizabeth quietly continued her process knitting. Sue showed off her circular size 50 needles, made with the help of a drill, an old computer cord, and a loving husband. Once the cable was installed, the problem I was having with stitches falling off the bottom of the (very full) needle went away. Cathy made sure we were all well fed and filled with warm tea and coffee. Oh, and did I mention the Reed's new living room decor? Very pretty!
