Welcome to the Friday Morning Knitters website! I couldn't decide whether to call this website Friday Morning Knitters or Friday Morning Knitting. I ended up deciding that our meetings are more about the knitters than about knitting, even though the knitting is very important. So . . . Friday Morning Knitters it is!
This is one big experiment for me. Here's my plan (subject to change): I am going to try writing a post after every morning that we meet. Then I am also going to write a post for as many of our projects as I can. This will let us post follow-up comments, follow-up advice, links to patterns, etc. I think I will only do posts for finished projects. If you have information about one of your projects that you'd like to add to a post, you can either add the information in a "Comment" for that particular post (see the "Comment" link at the bottom of each post -- Comments will appear in the blog and are public), or email me the information and I'll add it to the post. If you have your own photos, you can email to me and I can add a post that way too. Finally, on the left side of the website you'll see a column called "Labels." This is kind of like a table of contents. I have tried to cross-reference everything by project and person. So if you click on "Sweater" you'll see all posts for sweaters. If you click on "Cathy" you'll see all posts of Cathy's projects. The label for "Fridays" is a collection of the posts I'll do for every Friday gathering. And finally finally, I noticed with a lot embarrassment that my sweater was the first thing you saw when you opened the website. This was not my plan! But the way that Blogger works is that posts go in chronological order from the bottom up. I remembered this too late . . . and once posted, the order of posts can't be changed (at least as far as I know).
For today . . . we met at City Market on an absolutely beautiful fall day, and got to see lots of new projects. (We planned to meet at Last Drop, but we moved to City Market after they never opened up!) Cathy showed us her amazingly beautiful felted bag. Wow!! She also showed us a beautiful throw that she's working on. Mary worked on her almost-done red gnome hat which Veronica will be wearing tonight for Trick-or-Treating. Carol wore her new sweater, showed us her magic loop toe-up socks, and also showed us her cabled tank top that she just started. Priscilla showed everyone her glow-in-the-dark mittens. Sue brought her needle case that she just sewed. We enjoyed coffee, nice conversation, and many of us took home yummy baked goods from City Market.
Well knitting friends, I can only say WOW is this one cool idea! AND how sorry am I to have missed all of the finished project oohing & aahing this past Friday morning. Sue, this is a great accomplishment, I'm so impressed, almost as much as I am with your first sweater. As blogmaster, your pix absolutely deserves to be 1st! Cathy, your felted bag came out just fab! Don't you love those suede handles? And Carol, oh my oh my, you're positively beaming in that sweater. Can't wait to see it in person, it's amazing. Now I'm really inspired to complete a project worthy of posting on our Friday blog... your former LA knitter, Susan
ReplyDeleteoh my rattlin needles!
ReplyDeleteThis is quite the coverage, Sue! It lends us an official air that we knittERS perhaps deserve, and the knittING most definitely deserves! Thank you for doing this. I have photos from over the years...do you think that we should look backwards? -e
